El Calafate - Spegazzini Glacier y Upsala

Marpatag

Excellent tour across the Argentino Lake to appreciate the icebergs in the Upsala channel and the stunning Spegazzini Glacier.

The cruise starts heading northeast going by Punta Avellaneda and across Boca del Diablo, the narrowest part of the lake, with a width of approximately 800 meters. After 2 hours sailing, the appearance of icebergs of different colors and shapes announces that the Upsala Glacier is close. We will stop in front of the iceberg barrier that momentarily blocks entry to the Upsala channel, and if weather conditions allow us, we will admire the Upsala Glacier from a distance. We continue sailing the Argentino Lake heading south entering the Spegazzini channel until we reach the glacier. Navigation allows us to get close to this impressive glacier that has a front face of 80 to 135 m above the lake level. Lunch is served while you enjoy this amazing landscape. In the afternoon, the cruise reaches the Puesto de las Vacas, which is a very quiet bay within the Spegazzini channel, where it silences the engines and enables you to experience an interesting walk coordinated by the team of guides. This part of the trip allows us to enjoy the magnificent panoramic lookout points of the Spegazzini Glacier. Later, the cruise starts its return along the northern arm in order to arrive back to the private pier La Soledad at 6:00/6:30 pm.
For the passengers' safety, this route is subject to changes if the Captain deems it appropriate.
The program includes navigation through the Argentino Lake, visiting the iceberg barrier in the Upsala channel (which momentarily blocks our approach to the glacier) and the Spegazzini Glacier. Gourmet lunch on board, which includes soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Disembarking at Puesto de las Vacas. Tea and soft drinks during the whole excursion. On board activities guided by a bilingual guide (English-Spanish).
